Most all cast runners have bolt bosses cast inside the runner that impedes air flow these bulges are not needed and can be removed for optimal flow and substantial performance improvements. Cast runners have the benefit of having more material to work with vs tube runners so the options for port work and CSA become greater siamesing or shorting the runner can be achieved with cast runners like SLP, Lingenfelter/Accel, Super Ram, and Edelbrock for much higher RPM use.

All aftermarket TPI base's are cast to 1204 interface and still suffer with poor entry angle to cylinder head along with other restrictions inside the runner. The scoggin dickey or vortec tpi intake base suffers the most with poor angles, fuel injector bung blockages, and egr walls blocking airflow these all can be removed or improved to increase flow.
